Kohl’s Closes 27 Stores Nationwide, Including One in Aurora, Colorado

Kohl’s is closing 27 stores across the country by Saturday, March 29, as part of its cost-cutting efforts. The affected locations include one store in Arapahoe Crossing shopping center in Aurora, Colorado.

Colorado will have only 23 Kohl’s stores left after the closure, with more than half of them located in the Denver metro area. Other cities with multiple stores will be Colorado Springs (three) and Aurora (two).

The closures mirror national trends among retailers such as Macy’s, Walgreens, and JCPenney, which have also announced significant store reductions for 2025. Kohl’s has reported declining sales, with a 9.4% drop in the fourth quarter of 2024, and an expected further 2% decline in 2025.

The closures affect stores in 15 states: Alabama, Arkansas, California, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Colorado.
