Kraft Heinz Reimagines Pantry Staples to Win Back Consumers

Kraft Heinz is giving its well-known pantry staples a modern makeover. The company is revamping its mac and cheese, sports drinks, and powdered drink mix to compete with trendy competitors.
The company aims to focus on innovation rather than affordability, but many experts say this strategy might be too little, too late.
Kraft Mac & Cheese is introducing “PowerMac,” a new version with 17 grams of protein and 6 grams of fiber per serving for $2.99.
In contrast, Goodles has become the leader in the mac and cheese category with its nutritious offering at double the amount of protein and fiber compared to traditional Kraft Mac & Cheese.
Capri Sun is launching “Hydrate,” a sports drink with 50% less sugar than similar drinks and added vitamins and electrolytes.
Kool-Aid, another beloved brand, is getting an upgrade with a new version that adds in electrolytes and is priced lower than dominant brands like Liquid IV or DripDrop.
The company’s CEO, Steve Cahillane, believes the business is “fixable” and wants to return Kraft Heinz to profitable growth.
