NASCAR legend Kyle Busch is set to continue his career with Richard Childress Racing (RCR) for the 2026 season, thanks to an extension of his contract that includes a driver option. The two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion will remain one of the most decorated drivers in motorsports.
Busch, who turned 40 earlier this month and is entering his 20th Cup Series season, has already achieved nearly everything in stock car racing. He is now looking to the future and has expressed interest in racing with his 10-year-old son, Brexton.
“There’s kind of a vision on being able to race in some Truck races with Brexton alongside him,” Busch said during a press conference at Charlotte Motor Speedway. “That would be an idea when I would look at stepping aside from Cup Series racing.”
Brexton, who is just 10 years old and already competing in Legends car events, has been gaining attention for his promising racing career. He made his Legends car debut earlier this week and finished 16th at Hickory.
While it’s unclear how soon Brexton will make his Truck Series start, Kyle Busch believes that his son’s professional driving career is ahead of schedule. The father also expressed gratitude to Richard Childress and their partners for their support, which has helped shape Brexton’s racing budget.
RCR owner Richard Childress is excited about the prospect of having Brexton join the team in the future. “He’s the real deal,” Childress said, comparing Brexton to his own son Kyle Busch.
