Kyle Larson secured his 30th career win at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Sunday, edging out Alex Bowman by 1.205 seconds in the NASCAR Cup Series. Larson’s victory came despite being far from dominant, as he led only 19 of 267 laps and overcame poor starting position, pit road mishaps, and bad restarts to emerge victorious.
The win was part of a strong weekend for Larson, who also won the Craftsman Truck race on Friday and finished fourth in the Xfinity Series on Saturday. However, he fell one race short of sweeping the triple-header weekend, which would have made him the second driver to do so, following Kyle Busch’s 2010 and 2017 achievements at Bristol Motor Speedway.
Bubba Wallace took third for 23XI Racing, while Ryan Blaney led 124 laps before suffering an engine failure on Lap 207. Chase Briscoe and Denny Hamlin rounded out the top five.
Despite the setbacks, Team Penske’s Blaney expressed his disappointment but remained positive about the team’s performance. “It was a great race between me, Bubba, and Larson… We’ll keep our head up,” he said.
The Cup Series heads to Martinsville Speedway next, where Blaney won in November to secure a playoff spot.
