L.A. County DA Seeks No Bail for Jack Minh Terry, Accused of Murdering College Student

A 22-year-old man from Garden Grove, Jack Minh Terry, has been charged with the murder of a California Institute of the Arts student, Emily King. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office is seeking no bail for Terry, citing concerns about his ability to post the statutory $2 million bail.

Prosecutor Yasmin Fardghassemi expressed her concerns in a court motion, highlighting the violent nature of the crime and the severity of the injuries inflicted on King. According to the motion, Terry brutally murdered King at her home after engaging in sexual activity with her.

The victim suffered multiple severe injuries, including blunt force trauma to the forehead, puncture wounds, and bleeding under the skin. The prosecution also noted that the carotid artery was ruptured due to a puncture wound on the neck.

Terry had no prior criminal history before his arrest, but investigators discovered he was being surveilled by the police after they linked him to the crime scene through video footage. He is being held without bail at Men’s Central Jail and has a scheduled next hearing date of March 27.
