A Los Angeles County man has been sentenced to seven years in prison for a violent armed break-in at his ex-girlfriend’s home in May. Daniel Francisco Ponce, 26, pleaded no contest to four felony charges related to the incident, which occurred while children were present.
Ponce faced 13 felony charges, including first-degree burglary and child abuse, following a woman’s 911 call reporting him breaking into her home with a gun. The break-in happened around 2:45 a.m. on May 26 at his ex-girlfriend’s home on Bouquet Canyon Road.
As part of a plea deal, Ponce was sentenced to five years for shooting his gun in a dangerous manner and eight months for each of the other charges. He received credit for over a year of time already served. The plea agreement also dismissed nine other charges, including willful cruelty to a child and resisting arrest.
Ponce’s case involved multiple victims, including four children who were present during the break-in. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation took him into custody on December 3, according to court records.
