LAFC has confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur legend Son Heung-Min has finalized his move to the MLS, signing a record-breaking deal worth around $26 million. The 33-year-old forward joins the club as a designated player, with his contract set to run through 2027 and options that could see it extended until 2029.
Son’s departure from Tottenham marks the end of his 10-year association with the Premier League club, during which he scored 173 goals and registered 101 assists in 454 appearances. The South Korean star formed a fearsome partnership with Harry Kane at Spurs before the England captain left for Bayern Munich in 2023.
As one of the most accomplished players in world football, Son brings significant ambition and ability to LAFC. “I’m incredibly proud to be joining LAFC,” he said. “Los Angeles has such a rich history of champions, and I am here to help write the next chapter.”
The club’s co-president and general manager John Thorrington praised Son as a global icon and a proven winner. “Sonny is a dynamic and accomplished player who aligns perfectly with our values at LAFC,” he said. The signing is seen as a major boost for the team, which currently sits in sixth place in the MLS’ Western Conference.
LAFC will be reunited with Son’s former teammate Hugo Lloris, who joins the club from the MLS. The new arrivals could prove key to the team’s push up the standings and securing success in the league.
