Land artist Mary Miss has reached a settlement with the Des Moines Art Center in Iowa after more than nine months of a legal battle over her installation “Greenwood: Double Site”. The museum agreed to remove the piece, valued at $900,000, amid claims that it posed a public health hazard. Under the agreement, Miss will donate her funds from the settlement to a new Public Art Advocacy Fund established by the Cultural Landscape Foundation, which aims to protect artists whose work is threatened.
