Lando Norris achieved one of his childhood dreams, winning the maiden Monaco Grand Prix, after a hard-fought battle with Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen. Starting on pole position, Norris held off challenges throughout the 78-lap race.
Norris was forced to lock up both front tires during the early stages but managed to maintain the lead until two pit stops, which were new regulations for this year. However, he found himself behind Verstappen in the final laps before making a crucial move that handed him the victory.
“It feels amazing,” Norris said about his win. “It’s a long, grueling race, but good fun. We could push for quite a lot of the race.” Norris’ victory means he is now only three points behind teammate Oscar Piastri in the Drivers’ Championship.
Norris managed to keep Leclerc at bay, with Verstappen pitting on the penultimate lap allowing Norris to close in and secure his first Monaco Grand Prix win.
