At least 30 people are reported missing after a landslide in southwestern China on Saturday. The incident occurred in the village of Jinping in Sichuan province at around 11:50am, where it buried at least 10 houses. Two people have been rescued from the debris by emergency workers from Junlian county’s emergency management bureau. Local authorities have set up an emergency rescue command centre to coordinate efforts. Chinese President Xi Jinping has ordered a search operation and measures to minimize casualties. The cause of the landslide is still unknown, but heavy rain had fallen in the area over Friday night and into Saturday morning.
