Lee Cronin’s Mummy Reimagined for New Line Release

Lee Cronin is set to unleash a new take on the horror classic, “The Mummy”, with his upcoming film releasing on April 17, 2026. The project, previously announced as a mystery movie, has been rebranded and promises to be unlike any other “Mummy” film before it.

Produced by Atomic Monster and Blumhouse, alongside Cronin’s banner Doppelgängers, the film will bring a fresh spin to the age-old tale of ancient evil. Cronin aims to breathe modern life into the character, stating that his new take will be “very ancient and very frightening”.

The production team includes James Wan, Jason Blum, and John Keville as co-financiers, while Michael Clear, Judson Scott, Macdara Kelleher, and Alayna Glasthal oversee the project from their respective roles. This marks Cronin’s second collaboration with New Line, following his successful “Evil Dead Rise”, which grossed nearly $150 million worldwide.

The film joins a long history of “Mummy” movies, with Universal Pictures holding the rights to the iconic character. Hammer Films’ 1959 adaptation starring Christopher Lee is another notable entry in the franchise. Cronin, represented by CAA, Brillstein Entertainment, and Jackoway Austen, looks to bring a new level of terror to the genre.
