Former UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards is back in the UK to headline a fight against Sean Brady at The O2 Arena, looking to right the wrongs of his last performance. Edwards lost his title to Belal Muhammad in Manchester last October and has since undergone a five-year training regimen to prepare for a new challenge.
Edwards acknowledges that he wasn’t himself in his previous fight due to injuries and being forced to compete at an early hour on home soil. He now sees this weekend’s bout as an opportunity to give back to the UK fans, who were disappointed by his sluggish performance last year.
In this upcoming fight, Edwards will be facing a different opponent, but his training has prepared him for a mat-wrestler and submission artist like Brady. The former champion feels that he has the skills to overcome this new challenge, having previously fought opponents with strong wrestling backgrounds such as Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington.
Edwards is confident that he will be next in line for a title fight if he defeats Brady, which would mark his path towards becoming a two-time UFC world champion. He is determined to perform well, not just to win the fight, but also to show the world what he’s capable of and redeem himself from his previous loss.
The main card is scheduled to start live on ESPN+ at 4pm ET/1pm PT, with the prelims kicking off earlier on March 22.
