Lerone Murphy Sets Sights on Title with Five-Round Showdown Against Josh Emmett

Lerone Murphy is set to face hard-hitting contender Josh Emmett in a five-round main event clash at UFC APEX, with major title implications at 145 pounds. The undefeated English featherweight contender says he’s exactly where he needs to be.

Murphy has been handed the opportunity of a lifetime, and he’s eager to put on a show. “I trust what plans the UFC have got and how they’re matching these fights,” he said ahead of his bout this weekend. “A five-round fight will prepare me for a championship fight, so it is what it is.”

The 33-year-old Mancunian has been training for months, and he’s confident in his abilities. “I feel like I’ve been training for a while for this fight now,” he admitted. “So I’m just looking forward to getting in there now.”

Murphy’s opponent, Emmett, is known for his tough style, but Murphy says he’s up for the challenge. “It’s a great matchup, isn’t it?!” he enthused. “He comes to fight. He’s a banger and he can wrestle, too. I believe I can do the same.”

Murphy’s eyes are on the prize – becoming UFC featherweight champion. He believes this fight will be a number-one contender bout and that the winner could go on to fight for the championship.

“I just want to be champion now,” Murphy said. “I want to cement my legacy, my name.” With all the pieces in place, Murphy is ready to put on a show and prove himself as a top contender in the division.
