Seven-time Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton has spoken out about his advice to Max Verstappen regarding his potential move to Mercedes. Verstappen’s team, Red Bull, is reportedly in talks with Mercedes over a possible driver switch.
Hamilton, who currently drives for McLaren, gave a positive response when asked if he would recommend Verstappen to join Mercedes. He praised the team as “amazing” and said he would be interested to see what unfolds in the future.
The news comes as George Russell’s contract with Mercedes is set to expire at the end of this year. While Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff acknowledged interest in having Verstappen on board, he emphasized that a move next year is unlikely.
Hamilton also spoke about his own experiences with Red Bull, admitting he had misunderstood the team years ago. He now recognizes their exceptional personnel and competitive success.
