Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton has reignited his criticism of Ferrari, suggesting that the team needs to replace him after his disappointing qualifying performance at the Hungarian Grand Prix. Hamilton’s Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc took pole, but Hamilton himself was eliminated in Q2 and will start 12th for Sunday’s race.
Hamilton expressed frustration with his car during a post-qualifying interview with Sky Sports F1, saying “useless, absolutely useless” when asked about his qualifying session. He also stated that the team has no problem with his performance, but rather needs to change driver.
This marks the latest chapter in a disappointing 2025 campaign for Hamilton, who is currently sixth in the championship and struggling to match his teammate Leclerc’s pace. Despite acknowledging Ferrari’s progress, Hamilton expressed little optimism about his own chances of success at the Hungaroring, which has been a haven for him throughout his career with eight victories.
Hamilton’s comments have fueled speculation that he may be on the verge of a move away from Ferrari, although the team has not officially commented on the matter. With Leclerc leading the charge, Ferrari will face stiff competition in Sunday’s race.
