Amazon Prime Video has found its young Elle Woods for the upcoming “Legally Blonde” prequel series. Lexi Minetree will play the lead role, which follows Elle’s high school years before attending Harvard.
Reese Witherspoon made the casting announcement on Instagram, introducing fans to the new Elle. The official logline states that the series explores Elle’s life experiences that shaped her into the iconic character audiences know from the first film.
Minetree is making her lead TV debut with this role, having previously appeared in shows like “Law & Order: SVU” and TV movies such as “The Murdaugh Murders.” She is represented by Stewart Talent, Framework Entertainment, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
The series was originally greenlit at Amazon in May 2024 and features a cast of notable producers, including Witherspoon, Lauren Neustadter, and Lauren Kisilevsky. The first “Legally Blonde” film was a commercial success, grossing over $140 million worldwide, while the stage musical adaptation debuted on Broadway in 2007.
