Lexus Unveils Sport Concept Supercar with Twin-Turbo V8

Lexus surprised car enthusiasts by unveiling its highly anticipated sports car concept at The Quail during Monterey Car Week. The new Sport Concept has drawn comparisons to the LFA and LC500, hinting at a blend of design elements from these iconic vehicles.

The details on the Sports Concept are still scarce, but it’s clear that Lexus has benchmarked top-tier front-engine sports cars, including the Mercedes-AMG GT R. A rear transaxle gearbox is likely featured, along with a twin-turbo V-8 engine. The car will also be used as the basis for Toyota’s upcoming GT3 race car.

Exhaust pipes are integrated into the wing, and large vents on the rear resemble those found on the LFA. Cooling systems, including brake and transaxle cooling, appear to be designed with aerodynamics in mind. The Sports Concept lacks an interior, with only the Bridgestone logos remaining on the tire sidewalls.

Lexus’ design philosophy is evident in the Sport Concept’s wide, low-profile two-door form, which combines dynamic and emotional elements into a vision for a next-generation sports car. Toyota has also been working on its own GR GT3 concept, which shares similarities with this new Lexus model.

The Sports Concept represents a significant step forward for Lexus design, and it will be interesting to see how the production version develops in the coming months.
