Li Ka-shing Family Faces Pressure Over $23 Billion Panama Port Deal

China’s criticism over a $23 billion sale of its majority stake in the Panama Canal’s ports has put pressure on the Li Ka-shing family. The deal does not require Chinese or Hong Kong approval, as all disposal targets are outside China and Hong Kong. However, CK Hutchison, which is involved in the transaction, must still comply with regulatory approvals from where their ports are located. Analysts say the deal is complex and requires further due diligence before any final decisions can be made.
