Liam Lawson to Replace Sergio Perez at Red Bull Racing in 2025

Red Bull Racing has confirmed that Liam Lawson will replace Sergio Perez as Max Verstappen’s teammate in the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship. The New Zealand native was selected after a poor performance from Perez, who finished eighth in last season’s drivers’ championship and struggled to keep up with his pace.

Lawson, who has been part of Red Bull’s driver development program since 2019, made his F1 debut in 2023 for AlphaTauri. He scored points in just his second race but wasn’t enough to secure a full-time seat at RB last season. Lawson will now drive alongside Verstappen, who is chasing his fifth world title.

Red Bull’s team principal Christian Horner praised Lawson’s performances, saying he “has demonstrated that he’s not only capable of delivering strong results but also a real racer.” However, the new partnership comes as Red Bull faces declining pace and losing key personnel, including aerodynamicist Adrian Newey to Aston Martin.
