This achievement broke the record for Memorial Day weekend in the US. The film’s success followed mixed reviews, with some describing it as “jovial, zany, and sweet” while others deemed it a “mind-numbing abomination”. Meanwhile, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning took $190m worldwide, marking the end of Tom Cruise’s 30-year tenure as agent Ethan Hunt.
