Lindsey Vonn, 40, returned to the podium for the first time since her comeback with a second-place finish in the super-G at the Women’s World Cup Finals in Sun Valley on Sunday. Her best result so far this season was a fourth-place finish in January.
Vonn ended 1.29 seconds behind winner Lara Gut-Behrami from Switzerland, who also clinched the super-G globe. Federica Brignone from Italy came third, finishing overall World Cup winner.
“I put it all on the line,” Vonn said after the race. “I know I can ski at this level and even do better than that.” Vonn hopes to make the U.S. Olympic team for the 2026 Milan-Cortina Games before retiring for good.
Vonn, who faced criticism about her age and ability after announcing her comeback in November, said she proved everyone wrong with her podium finish.
