Linux Admin’s Bizarre UPS Haul Saves 400+ Days of Uptime

A Linux admin, who wants to remain anonymous, shared an amusing story about his friend Peanut, a strong and dedicated server user. During an office move, Peanut convinced the admin to help him transport a live Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) to ensure minimal downtime on their mail server. The plan worked initially, but ultimately backfired when Peanut accidentally shut down one of the boxes he was hauling.

The unusual scheme aimed to maintain uptime for 400+ days without interruption. However, it appears that in his zeal to preserve the status quo, Peanut neglected to track which box he was carrying and ended up shutting down the wrong server during a reboot attempt. The moral: even well-intentioned efforts can go awry due to human error.
