Lions Rely on Jahmyr Gibbs After David Montgomery Injury

The Detroit Lions’ running game is expected to shift into high gear with Jahmyr Gibbs taking on an even greater workload after the season-ending knee injury of David Montgomery. While Montgomery’s loss is significant, the presence of Gibbs has provided a boost to the team.

Gibbs has already demonstrated impressive skills this season, scoring 25 touchdowns in two years and surpassing his rookie season total. He has also gained 1,442 yards from scrimmage, making it easy for head coach Dan Campbell to express confidence in his abilities.

“We have a lot of confidence in Gibbs,” Campbell said. “He’s continued to get better and better as the season has gone. Given the opportunity, he’s made a lot of plays. He brings an explosive element. He’s getting better in the pass game, and you see what he’s able to do in the run game.”

With Craig Reynolds and Sione Vaki on the roster, Gibbs is expected to be the main force behind the Lions’ rushing attack moving forward. Campbell’s trust in Gibbs will be crucial if the team wants to continue performing at a high level.
