A fan from Northern Ireland was hospitalized after a car plowed into a crowd of people celebrating Liverpool’s Premier League title victory in their hometown. The incident occurred on Water Street in Liverpool, where thousands of supporters gathered to celebrate the team’s win.
Irish Liverpool supporter Jack Trotter, 22, was hit by the vehicle and taken to the hospital with serious injuries. His girlfriend Abbie Gallagher, who was with him at the parade, said he called her in a panic after the incident, describing it as “crazy.”
The car involved in the collision is believed to be driven by a 53-year-old white British male, who was arrested on the spot. Merseyside Police Chief Constable Jenny Sims confirmed that the incident was not suspected to be linked to any terror activity.
Twenty-seven people were transported to Liverpool hospitals after the collision, with one child suffering severe injuries. Another 20 people received treatment at the scene before self-transporting to hospitals for care.
The police are conducting an investigation into the incident and are urging the public not to speculate or spread false information on social media.
