Liverpool Parade Crash Suspect Charged with Multiple Offences

A 53-year-old former Royal Marine has been charged in connection with the Liverpool parade crash that left 79 people injured, including a nine-year-old victim. Paul Doyle faces multiple counts of causing and attempting to cause unlawful and malicious grievous bodily harm with intent, as well as one charge of dangerous driving.

The incident occurred on Monday when a car driven by Mr Doyle ploughed into fans attending Liverpool’s Premier League victory celebration on Water Street, resulting in several serious injuries. Seven people remain hospitalized after the crash, according to Assistant Chief Constable Jenny Sims of Merseyside Police.

Detectives are reviewing a large volume of CCTV and mobile phone footage from various sources, including businesses and witness statements. Mr Doyle is set to appear at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court on Friday. The charges against him relate to the severity of the injuries allegedly caused by his actions, which do not require an open wound for a grievous bodily harm (GBH) charge.

Mr Doyle has been charged with seven offenses in total, including one count of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm against a child. The investigation is ongoing, and police are working to provide further information as soon as possible.
