Liverpool have completed the signing of Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen for 35m euros (£29.5m) as they strengthen their right-back position. The Dutch international, who played a crucial role in Leverkusen’s first Bundesliga title in 2023-24, is widely seen as Trent Alexander-Arnold’s replacement under Arne Slot.
Frimpong, 24, joins Liverpool on a five-year deal and brings experience to the Premier League champions. He previously played for Manchester City and Celtic before joining Leverkusen in 2021. The signing has boosted the Reds’ squad with Frimpong adding depth to their right-back position alongside Conor Bradley.
This move also strengthens Liverpool’s Dutch contingent, which already includes Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo, and Ryan Gravenberch. Meanwhile, discussions over signing Florian Wirtz are ongoing, with an offer of around £109m submitted by the club. The 22-year-old Germany forward is a key target for Liverpool, and talks are said to be nearing their final stages.
