Liverpool’s Unbeaten Run Ends at Craven Cottage

Liverpool manager Arne Slot denied that complacency was to blame for their 26-game unbeaten league run coming to an end with a 3-2 loss to Fulham. The Reds’ top spot remains secure, but they paid the price for a shoddy first-half performance that included errors and poor defending.

Alexis Mac Allister gave Liverpool the lead before Ryan Sessegnon, Alex Iwobi, and Rodrigo Muniz scored against them in the first half. Substitute Luis Diaz pulled one back, but the visitors’ late onslaught failed to produce an equalizer.

Slot insisted that complacency had no role in the loss, citing the team’s hard work and quality as reasons for their success. He noted that Liverpool do not win games by large margins like some other teams, such as Manchester City, who have been dominant in recent seasons.

Slot also defended his decision not to make more significant changes to his squad, saying that a four-day rest between matches has not affected the team’s performance. Despite conceding three goals in the first half, Slot saw “a few good moments” in the build-up and felt that the team had control at times.

However, Slot acknowledged that the errors made by Liverpool were something new for the team, which is why it was disappointing. The Reds created many chances in the second half but lacked time to score a third goal before being beaten.
