The creators behind ‘BoJack Horseman’, Raphael Bob-Waksberg and Lisa Hanawalt, are back with a new animated series on Netflix called “Long Story Short”. This time, they trade in their talking animals for kvetching humans, exploring the dysfunctional Schwooper family in Northern California. The show premieres on Friday, featuring a voice cast that includes several ‘BoJack’ alumni.
In an interview at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, Bob-Waksberg discussed his latest project with Hanawalt, revealing that he’s taking a different approach this time around. “I’m interested in the art in the glass part of it, but I find the rest of it a little opaque,” he said. Hanawalt playfully responded, “I touched a Monet once… And everyone was like, ‘Nooo!'”.
The series follows the Schwoopers, a family of five living in Northern California, as they navigate their relationships and quirks. Bob-Waksberg’s latest effort is his first solo creation since “BoJack”, with Hanawalt providing original art. The voice cast includes Lisa Edelstein and Abbi Jacobson, both from ‘Broad City’. With its unique blend of humor and drama, “Long Story Short” is set to bring a fresh perspective to the world of animation.
