Longhorns Advance to Championship Series with Shutout Win Over Tennessee

Texas softball advanced to the championship series of the Women’s College World Series for the second consecutive season, defeating Tennessee 2-0 on Monday. The No. 6-ranked Texas team, led by pitching duo Mac Morgan and Teagan Kavan, held the seventh-seeded Vols to just three hits in a dominant performance.

Katie Stewart provided all the offense Texas would need with a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth inning, while a throwing error by Tennessee’s Taylor Pannell allowed Joley Mitchell to score from second base. Teagan Kavan finished off the game, pitching three shutout innings and striking out eight batters.

The Longhorns will face either Texas Tech or Oklahoma in the championship series. With their season on the line, Tennessee must win twice to advance, while Texas is looking to repeat as champions for the second consecutive year.
