The National Football League (NFL) has announced that the Los Angeles Rams will play the first-ever regular season game in Australia as part of its multi-year commitment to grow the sport internationally. The game is scheduled to take place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in 2026.
“This underlines our ambition to become a global sport and accelerate international growth,” said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. The league has partnered with the Victorian State Government, Visit Victoria, and the Melbourne Cricket Ground to make this historic event possible.

“Melbourne is a beautiful city with a rich sports history,” said Premier of Victoria Jacinta Allan. “We’re thrilled the NFL will be touching down in the sporting capital of Australia.”
The Rams have already expanded their presence in Australia through various efforts, including launching an Instagram account and hosting Super Bowl LVI Trophy tour events.
