Loud Boom in Florida Believed to be SpaceX Reentry

A loud boom was reported in the area, and experts believe it might have been caused by a spacecraft reentry. According to LEMA Director Odie Barrett, SpaceX’s Dragon capsule entered the atmosphere over Florida while traveling at 17,000 mph.

The incident occurred on December 17, and the capsule had previously undocked from the International Space Station (ISS) a day earlier. SpaceX confirmed that its cargo capsule splashed down off the Florida coast at 1:39 p.m. EDT.

Reentries are typically heard for hundreds of miles around. News 11 is still working to gather more details about the incident.
