The Louisville men’s basketball team solidified its position as the second-best team in the ACC with a convincing 85-61 win over Syracuse, extending their winning streak to seven. The game, held at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, N.Y., saw the Cardinals showcase their dominance from start to finish.
In the first half, Louisville went on a 12-0 run that lasted four minutes and 28 seconds, with senior Chucky Hepburn scoring nine points all on three-pointers. The team’s strong performance was capped off by a 16-point lead at halftime.
In the second half, Louisville extended its lead to 63-46 before going on another 7-0 run that lasted two minutes and 29 seconds. This surge allowed the Cardinals to maintain their control of the game.
The team outrebounded Syracuse 37-32, with 29 defensive boards compared to the Orange’s 23. Louisville shot an impressive 50% from the field, 42.9% from deep, and 100% from the free-throw line.
Senior Chucky Hepburn led the offense with 24 points, tying his career high in three-pointers made with six. He also posted team highs in assists (7) and minutes played (37). J’Vonne Hadley tallied a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Terrence Edwards Jr. added 16 points.
The Cardinals’ victory marked their seventh straight win, solidifying their position as one of the top teams in the ACC.
