LSU Shreveport completed the first undefeated season in collegiate baseball history, winning the 2025 NAIA Baseball National Championship by defeating Southeastern Florida 13-7 at the Avista NAIA World Series in Lewiston, Idaho. The Pilots’ 59-0 season is a historic milestone in college baseball.
The game was not without its challenges, as Southeastern Florida scored two runs in the first and second innings to take an early lead of 4-0. However, the Pilots responded with bases-loaded walks by Diego Aragon and Ryan Davenport to tie the game and eventually take the lead. The turning point came in the sixth inning when Jackson Syring and Ian Montz hit back-to-back solo home runs to put LSU Shreveport ahead for good.
The final score was 13-7, with LSUS scoring runs in the seventh and eighth innings to seal their victory. Pitching decisions went to both bullpens, with Kenneth Schlechter earning the win for LSUS and Bryce McDonald suffering the loss for Southeastern Florida.
The Avista NAIA World Series All-Tournament Team has been announced, featuring several players from the winning team, including Josh Gibson, who was named as one of the tournament’s top shortstops. The championship victory marks the first national title in any sport for the Pilots and wraps up an historic season by a college baseball team.
