LSU Shreveport has achieved a historic first, becoming the first college baseball team on record to finish an unbeaten season, winning the NAIA championship in Lewiston, Idaho. The Pilots ended their 25-year dominance with a 13-7 victory over Southeastern (Florida).
The school, located in northwest Louisiana, has been one of the top programs in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for 25 years. Under coach Brad Neffendorf, they have consistently appeared in national tournaments, including three appearances at the NAIA World Series.
LSU Shreveport’s impressive season was marked by strong team performance, with an average of 11.3 runs per game and a batting average of .361. The Pilots’ pitching staff led the nation with a .982 fielding percentage, while standout pitcher Isaac Rohde struck out 146 batters and boasted a 2.09 ERA.
This victory marks a new benchmark in NAIA baseball history, surpassing the previous record held by Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) since 1996.
