LSU’s No. 5 women’s basketball team will travel to Columbia, South Carolina, for their game against top-ranked No. 2 Gamecocks despite the snowfall that hit Baton Rouge on Tuesday.
The Tigers are hoping to practice on Wednesday and depart for South Carolina in the afternoon. They had originally planned to rest on Monday and practice on Tuesday due to the inclement weather but decided to switch plans after several inches of snow accumulated on campus.
LSU is looking forward to their annual clash with South Carolina, which will tip off at 7 p.m. Thursday on ESPN. Coach Kim Mulkey expressed her team’s determination to beat the defending champions, saying “I’ve gotta think about snow and ice when I get home.”
The Tigers have a history of struggling against South Carolina, holding a losing streak of 0-16 since 2013. However, they aim to break their 17th straight loss on Thursday night and look forward to an intense battle with the defending champions.
