Swedish golfer Ludvig Åberg moved one step closer to winning his caddie’s bet with a hole-in-one at the Genesis Invitational. The ace, achieved on Saturday’s third round at Torrey Pines’ South Course, was made from 140 yards out with a pitching wedge.
Åberg’s impressive shot added to his previous two bunker shots that resulted in hole-outs, putting him two strokes off the lead. This milestone marks the first hole-in-one of his season and earns Åberg’s team $10,000 from Genesis.
Åberg has a bet with caddie Joe Skovron to produce six hole-outs by RBC Heritage in April, and now stands at five after Saturday’s achievement. When asked about the progress, Åberg said it brought him closer to winning his bet, leaving him with a favorable outlook for the rest of the tournament.
