The Slovenian superstar played his first game back in front of his former franchise after being traded to the Los Angeles Lakers.
During player introductions, a lengthy tribute video showcasing Doncic’s impressive basketball career was played on the videoboard, leaving him visibly emotional. “It was so many emotions,” he said, struggling to contain his feelings during post-game interviews.
Doncic dominated the game, scoring a season-high 45 points and leading the Lakers to a 112-97 win that secured a playoff berth. The return was not without controversy, however, as fans still harbored anger towards Doncic’s former team for trading him away in February, which acquired Anthony Davis, Max Christie, and a future first-round pick.
