Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic released an emotional farewell message to the city on Sunday, following a trade that sent him to the Los Angeles Lakers. In a heartfelt letter, Doncic expressed his gratitude for the support he received during his time in Dallas.
Doncic said he was “grateful for this amazing opportunity” and promised to continue playing with the same joy, passion, and goal of winning championships. The 22-year-old Slovenian has built deep ties to Dallas off the floor, and his appreciation for the city was mutual. When he led Slovenia to the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, Dallas County Commissioners declared July 6 of that year “Luka Doncic Day” in celebration of his accomplishments.
Doncic ranks sixth on the Mavericks’ all-time scoring list, second in 3-pointers, and third in rebounds. As he begins his new journey with the Lakers, he will always cherish the memories made in Dallas, which feels like a home away from home.
