Rapper Lupe Fiasco is expanding his artistic endeavors beyond music by joining the faculty at Johns Hopkins University’s prestigious Peabody Institute as a Distinguished Visiting Professor in Fall 2025. He will lead a rap course within the conservatory’s new four-year hip-hop program, set to debut in 2025.
Lupe expressed excitement on Instagram about his new role, citing the esteemed institution’s reputation for producing world-class musicians. The program is designed to provide students with individualized lessons and opportunities to perform and experiment with their craft.
The application deadline for the program has been extended to this Friday, January 3, due to high interest. Lupe will also continue as a professor at MIT while advancing his research position at Yale University. He recognizes Wendel Patrick, director of the hip-hop program, and looks forward to contributing to the institution’s legacy in rap music.
