Rapper Lupe Fiasco is set to teach a rap course at Johns Hopkins University’s Peabody Institute, part of the university’s new four-year hip-hop program. The Chicago rapper announced the news on his Instagram account, expressing his excitement about joining the esteemed institution.
The 42-year-old will be teaching alongside renowned Professor Wendel Patrick and contributing to the legacy of one of America’s oldest music conservatories. Lupe expressed gratitude for being part of this prestigious program, citing its rigorous training and reputation for producing world-class musicians.
Despite taking on this new role, Lupe will continue to teach at MIT and pursue his fellowship at Yale University. The hip-hop degree program is seeking students with skills in turntablism, rapping, beatboxing, or production, offering a four-year education with lessons from private instructors and opportunities for performances.
Applications for the program are due by January 3rd, following a brief deadline extension.
