Mac App Arc Discontinues, Replaced by Dia as ‘Internet Computer’

The company behind the popular Mac app Arc has announced its discontinuation in favor of a new app called Dia. The move was met with surprise and disappointment from users who had grown to love Arc’s unique features.

According to CEO Josh Miller, Arc didn’t quite live up to expectations due to its steep learning curve. The app tried to do too much, catering to a small minority of users rather than providing value to the majority.

In an open letter, Miller explained that Dia is designed with simplicity, speed, and security in mind, offering a more accessible experience for all users. The new app is currently in alpha-testing and will be available next to Arc members.

The decision to discontinue Arc was made after realizing that building upon its existing foundation would be too complex. Instead, the company is focusing on creating a new type of software with a fresh foundation. Unfortunately, this means Arc won’t be open-sourced, as it relies on proprietary technology.

Dia aims to create a new world where AI agents come first, followed by web browsing. The app is currently in alpha-testing and will become available soon.
