Macau’s casino revenue dropped 2% in December to 18.2 billion patacas ($2.3 billion), missing analyst estimates that predicted a year-on-year increase. The drop is attributed to increased scrutiny over gambling activities during President Xi Jinping’s visit, which has deterred bettors. This marks the second consecutive month of decline and follows a 20% fall from pre-pandemic levels in 2019.
