US Congresswoman Nancy Mace went to the Charleston International Airport on Thursday morning expecting a security escort. However, they were not present as planned, causing her significant frustration.
Mace waited by the Transportation Security Administration checkpoint for airport agents to accompany her to her gate. When they arrived, she became angry and cursed at the officers. She claimed that if the same treatment happened to Senator Tim Scott or former Governor Nikki Haley, people would take it seriously.
Airport police officers described Mace’s behavior as a “tirade” that ended when she boarded her flight. They said the delay was due to an incorrect time for a white BMW arriving at 6:30 am, which actually belonged to Mace.
Mace’s aide played down the incident, saying that their security procedures are based on legitimate safety concerns. When asked about the event, Mace admitted to complaining to the airport but stated that the recent threats against her had intensified her frustration.
Despite the initial frustration, Mace praised the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for being “fantastic”.
