Apple has introduced a significant change to macOS Tahoe by replacing the Launchpad feature with a new “Applications” interface. The new interface organizes apps into categories such as Utilities, Productivity, and Finance, among others. A suggested section at the top of the interface provides personalized recommendations.
The Applications interface also features “Browse Modes,” which offer quick access to different areas such as Files, Actions, and Clipboard. These modes can be accessed using keyboard shortcuts.
Users can customize their view by choosing between a tiled or list view layout. The applications will display in either an organized category-based layout or by app name.
Currently, the new Applications interface is only available to developers. However, Apple plans to release a public beta in July and a full launch in September.
