French President Emmanuel Macron has scheduled an emergency meeting with European leaders to discuss US President Donald Trump’s actions, according to a Polish Foreign Minister. The meeting is set to take place in Paris on Monday.
Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski commented on the upcoming gathering, saying that it will involve serious discussions about the implications of Trump’s methods. “We need to respond” to his tactics, which Sikorski likened to “reconnaissance through battle”.
Macron has been cordial towards Trump since his election in November. The two leaders have expressed a willingness to work together, with Macron tweeting that he is ready to cooperate with the US president.
The emergency meeting comes after Trump’s recent visit to Paris to witness the reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral. Macron welcomed Trump back to Paris, praising his solidarity during the cathedral’s reopening.
