Magic Pull Off Historic 25-Point Comeback Against Heat

The Orlando Magic proved they’re more than just their injuries on Saturday night as they pulled off one of the largest fourth-quarter comebacks in NBA history, defeating the Miami Heat 121-114 at Kia Center.

Playing without their top scorers Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner, both sidelined by torn oblique muscles, and injured Sixth Man of the Year candidate Moe Wagner, who suffered a potentially serious knee injury late in the first quarter, the Magic still managed to outscore the Heat 37-8 in the final quarter.

Cole Anthony led the charge, pouring in 27 of his 35 points in the second half, while Trevelin Queen provided energy and hit key shots. The team’s resilience was on full display as they overcame a 22-point deficit and won without several key players, including 33-year-old point guard Cory Joseph.

The Magic’s victory will be remembered as one of the greatest regular-season quarters since their franchise was founded. “You can’t really explain that,” said coach Jamahl Mosley. “That’s something I haven’t seen. I have not seen that ever in my years in the league: the ability to stay with it despite all of the circumstances that started in the beginning of the game.”

The team’s unity and determination were evident as they celebrated their historic win. “It was tremendous effort and togetherness,” said swingman Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. “I love being part of history, but just as far as our team — with a guy getting thrown out of the game, the injury to Moe, having Franz and Paolo already out and Jalen not playing tonight — it just shows a lot about our team and how tough we are, how resilient we are. We never give up.”

The Magic’s 25-point comeback tied the franchise record for the largest comeback, and it was clear that this win was special to the players and coaches. “I’m just blessed to be a part of something that amazing,” said Queen. The team’s love and appreciation for each other were on full display as they celebrated their historic victory.
