Magic: The Gathering Expands into Science Fantasy with Edge of Eternities

Magic: The Gathering is venturing into the realm of science fantasy with its new set, Edge of Eternities. This marks a departure from the genre’s typical high-fantasy setting, instead exploring the vastness of space and the mysteries that come with it.

The latest preview reveals nine cards, including two new uncommon cards: Broodguard Elite and Debris Field Crusher. These cards showcase two of the set’s innovative mechanics: Warp and Spacecrafts. Warp allows players to cast creatures at a cheaper cost while exiling them at the end of their turn. Spacecrafts, on the other hand, require players to “station” creatures to unlock their abilities.

The majority of the previewed cards are reprints of existing land cards with revamped artwork, available in booster packs and Collector Boosters. The Stellar Sights bonus sheet features these cards, offering a unique way for fans to collect them.

Edge of Eternities promises to bring a fresh perspective to Magic’s universe, embracing sci-fi tropes and exploring the unknown. With its innovative mechanics and visually stunning art, this set is poised to captivate fans of both science fiction and tabletop gaming.
