Magic The Gathering X Final Fantasy Sets Launch on June 13

Magic: The Gathering has announced its highly anticipated crossover set with Square Enix’s Final Fantasy series, scheduled to launch on June 13. The set will feature all 16 mainline Final Fantasy games, characters, and iconic scenes.

The first cards from the set have been revealed in a livestream, showcasing various creature types, including Moogles and Chocobos. A new creature type called “Moogle Merchant” has also been confirmed, with Stiltzkin representing this new creature type.

Some notable cards include Terra, Herald of Hope, Cloud, Ex-SOLDIER, and Tidus, Yuna’s Guardian, which serve as the commanders for each Final Fantasy game-themed Commander Deck. The decks are themed around Revival Trance, Limit Break, Counter Blitz, and Scions and Spellcraft.

The set will also feature cards inspired by iconic creatures like Jumbo Cactuar, Tonberry, and Sazh’s Chocobo. A new Sidequest subset of cards will start as enchantments but can change effects once the “quest” is completed.

Additionally, summoned creatures will be represented as a new card combination called Saga Creatures, which can attack and block like other creatures while also moving through chapters like Sagas. The set will include over 60 cards, including two ready-to-play decks led by Sephiroth and Cloud.

Preorders are available now, with prerelease events slated for June 6-8 at local game stores and hobby shops. Magic: The Gathering’s Final Fantasy set is set to be a highly anticipated release in the world of tabletop gaming.
