Magnetic Navigation Update Shifts Focus on Earth’s Changing Pole**

**
Magnetic navigation systems will be recalibrated as experts from NOAA and BGS release a more accurate World Magnetic Model to track the Earth’s shifting magnetic poles. The North Magnetic Pole is moving away from Canada towards Siberia, influenced by changes in the planet’s core. This new model offers enhanced precision over half a decade and provides higher detail for logistics planning. Researchers discovered two giant magnetic lobes under these regions driving the pole shifts. Using the old model could cause errors of up to 150 km (93 miles) in navigation, but the updated WMM ensures accuracy for flights and equipment worldwide. Major airlines and militaries will upgrade their systems, while personal devices will adjust automatically. This discovery first identified by Sir James Clark Ross in 1831 highlights ongoing efforts to better understand Earth’s dynamic magnetic environment.
