Maha Kumbh 2025 Begins in Prayagraj with Grand Security Arrangements

The largest gathering of devotees has begun at Triveni Sangam, a sacred confluence of rivers Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati, in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj. Over 40 lakh pilgrims have taken the ‘Shahi Snan’ ritual, with many traveling from across India and the world. The festival is expected to host around 45 crore people over 45 days.

Massive security arrangements have been made to ensure people’s safety during Maha Kumbh. Underwater drones, tethered drones, and at least 2,700 cameras with AI capabilities will provide round-the-clock surveillance. A team of 56 cyber warriors will monitor online threats, while temporary hospitals equipped with surgical and diagnostic facilities are set up for healthcare.

Grand festivities will take place during the six-week festival, including elaborate rituals, prayers, and religious processions. Over 40 crore devotees from across the world, including saints and celebrities, are expected to attend. The event has been attended by notable figures such as Laurene Powell Jobs, Steve Jobs’ wife, and Tibetan Buddhist leader Dalai Lama in the past.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his wishes to all pilgrims and tourists, describing Maha Kumbh 2025 as a celebration of faith, devotion, and culture. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also shared a message, emphasizing unity in diversity and the importance of Sanatan values.
